The RS:One Class, in partnership with the Chinese Taipei Sailing Association and the Windsurfing Club Guan YIn Ting, is hosting the 2016 RS:One World Championships from 26th to 30th September in Penghu, Taiwan.
The championship, open to all, will allow international racers to compete through innovative race formats like the Pulsar (compact slalom, America's Cup style) and Marathon (long distance). Courses are set up in a way that the on-shore audience can enjoy the racing.......( more )

The Estonian Olympic windsurfer Ingrid Puusta (EST 215) sailed alone 100 nautical miles (185 km) when crossing the Baltic Sea by using the RS:X Olympic windsurfing equipment.
Ingrid started from Swedish island Faro near Gotland on Sunday morning 0737 UTC+3 and finished 2125 UTC+3 at Turju in Saaremaa, Estonia.......( more )

On day 5 here in Greece many competitors were hoping to get races completed in order to bring into play another discard. Unfortunately Mount Pentelis, which sits majestically above Marathon bay, wore a heavy crown of thick black storm clouds. ......( more )

Day 4 here in Marathon Bay, Athens, Greece saw us playing the waiting game. Just one race completed. A light forecast SE was fighting with the NE thermal. Each wind direction negating the other.......( more )

Day 3, Aeolus the Greek god of wind returned to Marathon Bay providing us with 5 races in 10 to 16 knots of NE thermals.
We were sent to the water the instant the wind started. The RO tried to get race five underway before the wind had really kicked in. Light, patchy conditions saw about 10 of us reach the top mark within the time limit, however the rest of the fleet were left struggling. LAT-23 made it back down to the bottom mark before they cancelled the race. The day before, two races were completed in lighter more unstable conditions. ......( more )

Another Supercup event took place from 3rd to 4th September at Nove Mlyny lake in the Czech Republic. Foreign competitors came from Slovakia, Hungary and Germany to take part at this event in Bic Techno 293, Formula and Raceboard classes (two RS:X included). There were overall 79 sailors ready to start.......( more )

Day 2 was the kind of day that (heavier), older guys like me see in our nightmares. Yet for others (more fit, younger, lighter), light wind is their advantage.
Race 3, the Race Officer recorded between 8-10 knots on the start boat, however many of us felt it was much lighter. Needless to say only about 10 competitors got away planing from the start before the wind dropped further. Must have been on the limit.......( more )

After a solid month of classic 20 knot "meltemi" wind in Marathon Bay, an unexpected storm front put an end to the NE perfection. The wind gods however, smiled on our opening day of the championship providing us with 10-16 knots of SE wind which allowed us to complete two races back to back.......( more )

The 2016 AGM will take place during the forthcoming Techno 293 Worlds in Torbole Sul Garda, Tentino, Italy - and is scheduled for Thursday 27th October.
The exact time and location will be published on the championship Official Notice Board; with a start time depending upon the end of racing for that day.

Sadly, it is finished . . . A dream come true! One would have wished it lasts again for ever but no, unfortunately, it had to come to an end after months of preparation. Brutal stop!
What an Event . . . After 24 years of deep sleep and disappearance from the sailing world, this is with emotions we've seen our black II flag rising again officially ashore and on the mast of committee boat.......( more )

The Raceboard and Division II European Championships have concluded in Brest, France with 90 competitors from 15 countries having entered the event. The biggest fleet was the Raceboard Men, but most importantly it was very good to see a strong Youth representation at the event. A sign that Raceboard can be attractive to sailors of all ages.......( more )

All sailors were keen to get on the water on Friday as the forecast showed sunny weather and wind from the early morning. A welcome change after the disappointment of having no wind on the previous day. The race committee planned 4 races and the first warning signal was set for 10:00. ......( more )

90 competitors from 15 countries have entered the European Windsurfing Festival in Brest, with the biggest fleet being the Raceboard Men. The sailors are definitely looking forward to a great week of racing with the weather forecast showing sun all through to Saturday on the French coast. 15 races are planned for the Raceboard class, whilst the DII have 12 scheduled.......( more )

Monday 22 August sees the start of the European Raceboard Championships and also the Division II European Championships 2016. Organised by Crocodiles de L'Elorn Brest still in the euphoria of the Olympic medals in sailing in Rio, this event promises to be a success judging by the number of pre-entries.
The bar is high with great battles anticipated for Men's and Women's titles. Nicolas Huguet (CN La Pelle Marseille), current Raceboard European Champion, will have much to do to defend his title.......( more )
