Furious Winds on Day 2 in Almanarre
Posted On:  20/04/2017 10:04:58

With a relaxing start but with thermal winds predicted for the afternoon it all quickly turned out into another day packed with back to back races for all divisions. Almanarre continues showing off as a world class slalom location, after today's rough sailing conditions with winds up to 25 knots.

The first victory in the Masters elimination was for the Frenchman Ludo Jossin who sails under the Spanish Flag. He said, "it's been difficult so far due to the 2 boards and 4 Sails registered, I am giving my best and sort of hope that the crazy winds will calm down a bit."

Elimination 2 was won by Andrea Rosati from Italy who played a different hand of cards by registering smaller gear for this event. The next 3 days will be interesting to see who will remain at the top of their game with the unpredictable forecasts here in Almanarre.

In the Youths division, Basile Jacquin from New Caledonia fought back and proves he is here for business, currently leading the challenging Youths division after 1 discard. Jimmy Thieme remains on a podium position and 3rd place Damien Cervera is on equal points.

Ones to watch are Norwegian Martin Moller Hovda and Alessio Botteri from Peru.
Strong battles in the youth division and big disappointment of the day for the local Damien Arnoux due to a disqualification (Rule 18). Can he make a come back ?  Let's find out in the coming competition days.

Lilou Granier, the strongest girl competitor from New Caledonia remains on top of her game, winning both eliminations and feels no pressure at all.

Also from New Caledonia, a hat trick for Nathan Doom in the Juniors division.
Another interesting division with some close battles.
