Ramon Pastor 2019 Formula Foiling European Champion
Posted On:  06/05/2019 00:00:00

26 competitors from 8 countries have been battling it out for podium positions at the Formula Foil European Championships in Praia da Roche, Portimao.  Przemyslaw (Pont) Miarczynkski (POL-126) took the wins in two races on the first day, ahead of Janis Preiss LAT-23 and local Miguel Martinho POR-5.

First possible warning signal was scheduled for 13:00 on day two but it wasn't until 17:30 that finally the boards could make their way to the race area.  Conditions were good for three races with Spaniard Ramon Pastor Maltas (ESP-72) taking two bullets with Estonian John Kaju (EST-24) claiming the other. At the end of the day POL-126, ESP-72 and ESP-71 headed the leaderboard after a total of 5 races so far in the Championship.

Video Day 2 - "very close racing in all 3 races today and 2 "presents" for Ramon Pastor from his friends Pont and Fernando. Lot of fun for all during the racing a good laugh at the end."

The wind gods made an effort to arrive earlier on the final day of competition with 7-9 knots over the racing area enabling a start at 13:00.  A great racing day!

Video Day 3 - "Five races of really close racing, which from race to race got more intense.  The Championship title was decided on the last leg of the last race!"

The battle was on between Przemyslaw Miarczynski and Ramon Pastor Maltas as they shared the wins of the day but it was the Spaniard (ESP-72) who clinched the first place on the podium and title of Formula Foil European Champion, Przemyslaw Miarczynski (POL-126) was second and third place on the podium was claimed by Fernando Martinez (ESP-71). Estonian John Kaju (EST-24) also deserves a mention finishing just one point behind, 12 points clear of the chasing pack.

As always, a big thank you to host Clube Naval de Portimao and Rui Raimundo and his race committee.
