The 12 event 2014 European Cup series concluded last weekend in Loutsa Bay, Attica, near Athens. Latvian formula specialist Janis Preiss took the first place on the podium with another conclusive win and with it the title of European Cup Champion 2014.
Estonian John Kaju held on to 2nd place overall despite not travelling to Greece for the final event. The battle for 3rd overall came down to a tie break - Janis Rencis' 3rd place in Loutsa was not enough to move him into 3rd overall; and on the tie break it was young Karl Erik Saarm that kept the final podium position.
Janis commented - "I am very happy to win the 2014 European Cup. I think I had the best season so far with lots of training and lots of local and international competitions.
"I would like to say thank you to GA and Tabou team for giving me the best equipment and to Ross Williams for the best advice on how to tune this equipment. I believe that I had a chance to use the best Formula gear this year- sails, board, ELK fins and that all helped to give me this result."
Now in its 3rd year the European Cup is expanding and with it the competition gets tighter - check out the reports from each event of 2014 Series on FW home page
