Indoor windsurfing returns to Paris
Posted On:  22/03/2016 11:22:24

The 2016 Indoor de France will gather some of the world's best windsurfers at the AccorHotels Arena, in Bercy, Paris, between April 1st-2nd.  The indoor windsurfing event will be held in a specially-designed pool installed inside the French sports arena. Thirty large fans will produce winds of more than 30 knots.

Although Indoor de France is not part of the official PWA World Tour - it definitely should - the event features slalom races (men and women), freestyle, foilboarding, and jumps.

The competition returns after being more than 20 years out of the pro windsurfing calendar. It is organized by the French Sailing Association, and it will see Robby Naish, Antoine Albeau, Kai Lenny, Erik Thieme, Manolo Barlet, Nik Baker, Robert Teriitehau, Sara-Quita Offringa, and more battling for the overall titles.

"It will be a billboard for windsurfing, for sports in general, and simultaneously for sponsors because there will be many TV stations covering the event," 1990's indoor windsurfing star Robert Teriitehau tells the Windsurf Journal.

Tickets for the 2016 Indoor de France - All Star Wind Games are available online between €25 and €65. The last indoor windsurfing contest was held in Warsaw, Poland, in 2014.
