FW Europeans at the Rollei Bullet HD - Summer Opening, Sylt
Posted On:  18/05/2012 05:46:39

Day Two - At 15:10 with 12-14 knots from the west, low tide and onshore, AP came down - 20 minutes to the warning signal for race 1 of the 2012 Championship.  Two laps of a windward leeward course and Ross Williams (GBR 83) took the win closely followed by Casper Bouman (NED 52).  Race 2 quickly followed, some sailors changing up to their biggest sail, others unfortunately suffering equipment failure.  Again Ross Williams was victorious with Arnon Dagon (ISR 1) a close second.  A break before Race 3 when Steve Allen (AUS 0) was the second place challenger to Ross' win.

Day One - It's not Formula, but, it for sure is windsurfing! Conditions were not suitable for formula racing today. Strong winds, directly onshore, meant Sylt got as unfriendly as it could get for windsurfing competition. However the 16 wave riders, including 10 also entered for the formula championship, lined up to compete with one of the best wave sailors in the world, from Germany, Klaas Voget (GER4).

Despite the unseasonal conditions spectators turned out in force to check out the action, and to visit the numerous stalls that lined the promenade and filled the event village.

Choppy-Water have produced yet another spectacular event at one of the world's best known venues for windsurfing, renowned for a competitive and social atmosphere!

It is forecast that conditions will moderate tomorrow and we may get wave action followed by formula racing on Day 2.
