In its first active year, the ISAF-recognised RS:One Class allowed 495 racers to enjoy the Racing Series, European and World Championships. For 2013, we are pleased to announce a lot more new and exciting competitions and venues – a promising World Championships[more] in the incredibly windy Alacati; European Championships in the heart of Britanny in Brest together with the Olympic RS:X, and the exciting Racing Series to be held in a wide variety of locations such as the emerging windsurfing nation of Myanmar and the Olympic venue, Rio de Janeiro.
Alacati, with its perfect wind conditions and unforgettable people will host the second RS:One World Championships. After the dreamy inaugural event in Boracay, Alacati will provide a fitting follow up from the 15th to 20th July with 80 RS:One sets to be available for charter.
Brest, in the heart of Brittany, will be the theatre for another major ISAF event, the European Championships from 1st to 5th July. For the first time, the RS:One fleet will race alongside the RS:X Olympic Windsurfing Class. Once again, all equipment will be available for chartering.
The Asian continent started the racing year in Singapore and will also close the 2013 season with a ground-breaking event in Myanmar at the South East Asian Games. We are delighted that the RS:One has been selected by Myanmar which started its windsurfing program only a year ago with the support of NeilPryde. Further support will be provided to emerging nations in South East Asia and India during the year.
With a strong, growing fleet in Brazil, the RS:One will meet a new audience in Argentina and Chile at the South American Championships. NeilPryde and the RS:One Class are keen to support emerging windsurfing nation programs and to contribute to the growth of the windsurfing sport in South American and Caribbean countries.
Finally, we are proud to announce that the NeilPryde Racing Series will continue its collaboration with the Extreme Sailing Series world tour.
