The second competition day brought a surprising display of high wind slalom action. The day started similar to the first day with the skippers meeting held at 11 am. Sunny skies and a shifty wind that slowly started to fill in later in the afternoon. It took less time than the previous day for the wind to be suitable enough for the competition from the regular direction. [more]The first race started at 14:39 pm (15-17 knots winds) continuing with the same starting schedule as the first competition day.

No serious changes in the overall results but here is what 2 of the top Peruvian competitors have to say about this very windy racing day at their hotspot:
Maria Belen Bazo (Olympic Windsurfer for Peru)
“It is really nice to have this IFCA Slalom Championship competitions here in Peru. I am happy to see so many competitors from South America and the Caribbean sailing in my home spot because it is beautiful and we want everyone to know about Paracas. The competitions are fun, we are competing together with the Juniors boys and we have great battles during the races. I am leading the Women division at the moment and its great. I do hope to see more women participating in the future South American Slalom Championships.”
Alessio Botteri (Peruvian Slalom Champion 2017 & 2018)
“It is a pleasure to have this IFCA Championship taking place at my home spot, especially with the windy conditions like today where some had fun and some also struggling. It was blowing well over 20knots, competitors were all over the place here in the bay of Paracas and that makes it fun to watch. Today it was all about the starts, I had a couple of bad starts but yea, still fighting, I managed to get in front of Ethan Westera in the A finals of the 4th elimination so that felt nice. But its all fun and good racing with my friends in a beautiful place so it is great. Tomorrow looks light and different and we probably will start racing very late. I will do my best to beat Aron who is sailing fast and I still think I can beat him so yea a few more races to go.”
A total of 19 Heats were sailed, 4 Eliminations completed with the 5th abandoned during a re-sail of heat 2 for the Junior/Women divisions at the end of the day. 2 rescue missions and happy but tired competitors, “some even begging” to stop races. Day 2 was another amazing day here in Peru in medium to strong winds from 15 up to 22+ knots during the late afternoon.
