The German Sailing Federation (DSV – Deutscher Segler-Verband) has published a pathway for the Olympic windsurfing. The concept was developed in close co-operation with the German national class associations (NCA) German Windsurfing Association (GWA) and Deutsche Windsurfing Vereinigung (DWSV) as well as the board for wind- & kitesurfing of the German Sailing Federation. [more] From the season 2021 onwards the regatta structures in Germany will be oriented according to this pathway. These guidelines are meant as an orientation for the regional sailing federations, clubs, parents and young athletes.
For the first time ever a clear structure is defined leading from the entry in windsurfing competitions on the Techno 293 up to the new Olympic iQFOiL outlining a clear pathway for the windsurfing career. This guideline will provide the necessary planning reliability for all involved entities. The new structure allows regional sailing federations to focus their engagements or even start getting active in windsurfing (again) at all. Clubs can direct their training and regatta activities along this guideline. The clear structure provides the necessary security to invest into youth windsurfing equipment. Parents and young kids finally have a clear guideline about the options for the different age divisions.
The German Windsurfing Association (GWA) and the German Windsurf Cup will implement the structure in the shortboard area. Additional regatta opportunities at inland lakes are planned in co-operation with the DWSV and local clubs.
