Lots more racing took place on the final day, with the Techno fleet having a great series, and the formula fleet squeaking two more or races to cap off a full weekend of racing.[more]

In the Techno Division, Leonard Berenger from Mexico took first place, qualifying Mexico for the Junior Olympic games this year, followed by Jose Carlos Davila Torres (MEX), and Alejandro Molinor (PUR) in Third, qualifying Puerto Rico as the second country from North America that will be in the Junior Olympic Games in Singapore this August. Alejandro took our Techno Race clinic prior to the Midwinters and was very appreciative of the help received.

“All in all the Techno Juniors were a great group and the energy from this division bodes well for the future of windsurfing.”

Paulo dos Reis wins the Calema Midwinters formula title!  The Brasilian speed monster had blistering speed all weekend, It was a close fight with Gonzalo Costa Hoevel that went down to the last race.  On the final downwind leg, with the wind getting lighter, Paulo jibed to the stronger wind side and eclipsed Gonzalo’s huge lead, passed him and never looked back.

This event was greeted with praised from all pros present who vowed to return.  The food which is always good at the Midwinters, was the best ever according to most. What a way to cap the 25th anniversary.

Please keep checking the updates, we will have links to more photos and a great video clip of the pros at full speed.
