Tuesday – YOG kicks off with two races for boys and girls

Racing got underway today in Singapore, with 2 races for both boys and girls. Light winds were the order of the day, 7>9 knots; and 2 laps of a windward/leeward course.

In the boys fleet Kieran Martin (GBR) will be very happy with a 1st and a 2nd place, but i am sure will not be complacent , with a quality field just behind him. That field includes Mayan Rafiah (ISR), Michael Cheng Chun Leung (HKG) and current world silver medal holder Maxime Labat (FRA).

In the girls fleet Audrey Yong Pei Lin (SIN) will be the toast of the town, with a 1st in race 2, and will no doubt raise expectations of the host nation. She will also face very strong competition from current world champion Naomi Cohen (ISR) and world bronze medal winner Veronica Fanciulli (ITA) – all three girls finish the day on 5 points.

Top 5 finishers in races today:

Race 1 boys- GBR, HKG, JPN, KOR, ISR.
Race 2 boys- ISR, GBR, FRA, KOR, HKG.
Race 1 girls- THA, ITA, ISR, SIN, ARG.
