Windsurfing is a true passion and a very affordable sport. Of course, some windsurfers decide to go a little further.[more]
Craig Collins, 44, has just windsurfed more than 500 in a single day. The Australian windsurfer set sail on 6.30am and traveled 553 kilometres, during 25 consecutive hours. Exhaustion is the word to describe his physical state after this enormous record.
“The conditions I had were ideal and everything came together at the right time”, said the Wonthaggi wind rider.
Actually, this park ranger went on for several laps around Sandy Point to break the previous record of 518 kilometres. Of course, every three hours of windsurfing he had a 15-minute break.
In the last hours, the wind almost ended his dream when, suddendly, it died out. “To come so close and have the wind die, you can yell and jump up and down, but there’s nothing to be done”, told Collins.
