Bautista Saubidet (ARG 401), last year’s under 17 champion, is once again victorious at this year’s South American Championships at Peru Beach, Argentina. [more]9 wins in 12 races overall gave him 11 points (one race discard), half the number of his nearest rival Nicolas Godoli (ARG 108).  In third place overall, and first under 15, is Francisco Saubidet (ARG 40).

It was an early start on the last day. It was blowing already at 10:30am around 10 knots and sailors were keen to go out.  2 races were completed with wind at 15/16 knots – just perfect! After coming back to shore to rest the last race was sailed with 16 knots with gusts up to 20knots.

Marcos Galvan scored a perfect 10 to win the Raceboard title.  By not competing in the last race, he allowed Fernando Consorte his moment of glory as he won the final race of the championship.  Esteban de Pierris took the bronze position.

Over in the RS:X fleet, redress was given at the end of the day to young kid Franco Reynaud (FRA-34) that abandoned his last leg to a second place finish in order to go rescue a sailor that had lost his equipment and was in serious danger of drowning after floating for almost 30 minutes.  Really, he deserves international praise and acclaim for setting such a good example!  Naturally, his “DNF” score was replaced with points corresponding to second place.
