Two intrepid Frenchmen will attempt to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Arnaud de Rosnay and complete the first-ever windsurf crossing of the Bering Straights, from Alaska to Siberia, in summer 2012.[more] Michel Oualle and Alain Gabet, both with experience of long-distance and crossings, are raising funds now and already supported with equipment by NeilPryde, NPX and JPAustralia.

De Rosnay’s challenge in 1979 ended tragically and previous attempts have been made by Chris Pressler and Thomas Miklautsch.

In 2011 a team of kite surfers also set-out from Alaska and set a new record by mnaking it as far as the International Date Line.
