Day 1 of racing completed at the 2016 Azores Formula Windsurfing World Championship in Praia da Vitoria, on the island of Terceira – 4 races completed and 4 different race winners!

Race 1 went to Casper Bouman (Netherlands); race 2 to Janis Preiss (Latvia); race 3 to Alexander Cousin (France) and race 4 to Steve Allen (Australia).[more]
With such strength and talent in depth, and once again all racers facing challenging conditions, this year’s title could be settled on the last day of racing!
Current World Champion was not having the best start to a regatta, but Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (Argentina) picked himself up with a second place in race 4 and cannot yet be written off for this year’s title.
There are no less than 3 past World Champions in the mix in addition to 3 Masters World Champions and many European Champions.
This is a top quality fleet of formula racers and a quick look at the top 10 overall shows it will be hard fought until the end.
