4 races were accomplished in medium to strong winds on the third day of the 2017 Formula Windsurfing Youth & Masters World Championships, a total of 3 races back to back and a fourth race after a break.

The conditions appeared weak at first with some dark clouds approaching during the morning. The sun came through around mid day with increasing winds blowing at first from 14 to 20 knots and later in the afternoon with gusts up to 30 knots. After 2 races a few competitors went back ashore to swap their gear and changed to smaller sails. [more]
Race 3 followed soon after in the strong winds blowing across the lake of Santa Croce. The fourth race was sailed after a break in slightly decreasing winds, yesterday’s event leader, Janis Preiss from Latvia, remained unbeatable after a successful day winning all 4 races. Martinho Miguel from Portugal remains comfortably in second position finishing all his races today right behind Janis. Markus Poltenstein from Austria improved and climbed up the rankings today with a 2 x 3rd position finish in the last 2 races sailed today.
Ennio Dal Pont From The Netherlands is the new leader in the Youths division with 3 bullets in the last 3 races sailed today. It’s getting exciting with only 2 points ahead of his nearest opponent. The next days all eyes will focus on the top 3 in the youths division who at the moment are the strongest in the fleet.
After the 6th Race the rain returned and the wind disappeared, and day 3 came to an end with the sun back out. The AGM was scheduled for 17:15 at the Lega Nevale Italiana – Sezione di Belunno in Santa Croce.
