“We are sure that we have found the best possible package for our IFCA Slalom European Championships 2018,” smiles IFCA president Bruno de Wannemaker. “Choppy Water has an excellent reputation as organizer of windsurfing events. For 20 years the company has organized national and international windsurfing events and championships in Germany and co-ordinated events and series like the ‘Windsurfing Euro-Cup’ all over Europe. There are very few organizers with expertise like Choppy Water.”
“We are proud that the IFCA Class has granted us the right to host the 2018 IFCA Slalom European Championship. This is the most important continental regatta for all European slalom competitors. We will do our best to ensure that the event will be a memorable experience for all participants,” says Matthias Regber as CEO of the organizer Choppy Water.
The European Championship is offering a prize fund of 10,000 Euro. The best male and female competitors are invited to fight for the official European slalom championship title. More than 100,000 spectators are expected for the Multivan Summer Opening on Sylt and will create an impressive platform for the slalom elite. Besides the discipline slalom the event also offers the disciplines racing and waveriding.
The IFCA Slalom Europeans are set up for a total of seven competition days to maximize the chances for enough racing in suitable conditions. Additionally, the Multivan Summer Opening Sylt is offering alternative disciplines to ensure that there is no pressure to run a championship race in marginal conditions but at the same time ensure as much ‘windsurfing’ as possible.
The Slalom European Championships are not the only watersport highlight of the Multivan Summer Opening. In the first part of the event the highest German kitesurf series, the Multivan Kitesurf Masters will attract the public with the disciplines racing, slalom and freestyle.
Besides the sportive activities the Multivan Summer Opening is offering an exciting program for everybody. Various activities, catering and shopping opportunities will call thousands of spectators to the promenade on Sylt. From 6pm the After-Race-Parties will kick-off in the event tent. Interviews, autograph sessions and moderation will entertain the masses. Over 100.000 spectators are expected for the event.
