After the skippers meeting which was held at 11:30, the Slalom competitors were put on hold, it was the second day with not enough wind for slalom, but the vibes were mostly relaxed among the competitors. The German competitors were on schedule for course racing (mixture of formula and foiling) and managed to race 1 full race with the second one cancelled due to too light winds around noon time. The weather was nice, the event site/promenade packed and crowded but the wind was not showing any sign of improvements until all of a sudden during the late afternoon. With the offshore winds picking up it was finally time for the Slalom show to continue.
The young Italian Francesco Scagliola ITA-353 performed with impressive skills in the light to medium conditions winning the opening heat of the day and claiming a well deserved 3rd position in the A Finals. Another youngster from France; Damien Cervera FRA-422 a strong upcoming competitor who took advantage of the light winds winning both heat 4 and 6, advancing to the A final where he crossed the line in 4th position.
The 5th elimination was sailed until the C Final which got cancelled due to dropping winds. The upcoming A Final will be a very exciting one, four out of the top 5 will be racing, missing out is Ennio dap Pont NED-46 who struggled timing his starts in the gusty conditions, Ennio will be racing in the B Finals after an 8th position in heat 6.
Equipment used: large boards with sail sizes from 7.8 to 9.4.
The races were once again stunningly streamed live and you can re watch some of the competitions here on the event page or on our facebook page.
