After the official opening ceremony on Monday evening with the Slalom World Tour Champion Matteo Iachino cutting the ribbon, today a beautiful 20 knots south wind has welcomed the 2018 IFCA World Championships on Garda Trentino. About 170 competitors from 20 nations, 4 continents and a total of 4 divisions: Juniors, Youths, Masters and Girls have coloured the grass and the beach with their equipment in front of Circolo Surf Torbole. Immediately after the skipper’s meeting, held at 10 o’clock to give competitors all the technical information needed, the regatta could finally start.

The four categories have been split into two regatta fields coordinated by IFCA class supervisors (International Funboard Class Association) and the two FIV Presidents of the Race Committees, Claudio Alessandrello and Ezio Ferin. A down-wind slalom which is the maximum expression of this kind of equipment, allowing them to reach the highest speed on a down wind course. A great technical and muscular workout but also a lot of fun!

Event leader after two eliminations, Frenchman Lohan Jules, second Nathan Westera from Aruba and third Turkish Berk Ozcan.

For the biggest division, the leaders are French: first Damien Arnoux, second Basile Jacquin and third Doom Nathan.

A great Italian start with Andrea Cucchi leading the division, ahead of Thomas Fauster. Third is the Turk Bora Kozanoglu.

A record in participation for this division with three French on top: first Davico Ma, second Jamane Carlotti and third Marine Marmey.
