Foiling has not been around for long in our sport, but one person is proving to be an unstoppable force. Nicolas Goyard has shown that when it comes to foiling, he is the Champion. From the Olympic Class through professional tour and, of course, to the Formula Windsurfing Class, Nico has won it all. This year’s defense of the title from Silvaplana was not an easy task, however.
It was a great pleasure to come to Terceira Island, Azores for the worlds this year and the event brought some big names to this special venue. Olympic medalist from Tokyo Thomas Goyard (FRA) was hot on the heels of his brother with Luuc Van Opzeeland (NED) and Sebastian Koerdel (GER) on equal points just behind. Fernando Martinez Del Cerro from Spain finished fifth and was the top master.
The event would not be possible without the dedication of the organisers at Clube Naval da Praia da Vitoria and the support of the local government and Portuguese Sailing Federation, for which we are extremely grateful.
Congratulations to all and we hope to see you next year at the Formula Windsurfing Class events.
