The second day of competition at the European Slalom Championships of the International Funboard Class Association again brought good conditions for the windsurfing elite. The wind was not enough for the second discipline Fin Slalom. But there were two more eliminations in the discipline Foil Slalom. Thereby the leading Michele Becker (GER-277, Patrik) recorded another victory for himself. The second race went to World Cup pro Nico Prien (GER-7, JP, Neil Pryde).The first race of the day started with a shock moment for the reigning Multivan Windsurf Cup Champion Michele Becker. Before the race even started he injured himself on his foil system and then had to start the race with a big cut in his thigh. With heavy bleeding he fought his way through the complete elimination. He did not let himself be distracted and also secured his fourth victory in the fourth race of the event. On land, however, Becker was then met by an ambulance, which took him directly to the island hospital of Borkum. About an hour and seven stitches later, he was released. Now Becker hopes to compete again on Saturday despite the injury.Second place in this race went to Gunnar Asmussen (GER-2, Starboard, Severne), who is getting better and better into the European Slalom Championship after a weak start on the first day. Third place goes to Nico Prien who is now the hardest pursuer of the dominator Michele Becker. Fabian Wolf (GER-404, FMX Racing, Gun Sails), otherwise active in the Olympic iQFOiL class, secured fourth place ahead of Englishman Scotty Stallman (GBR-68, Tabou, Gaastra).Nico Prien took advantage of the absence of leader Michele Becker due to injury and secured superior victory in the second race of the day. Gunnar Asmussen confirmed his excellent performance of the day with another second place. Dutch World Cup racer Ingmar Daldorf (NED-191, Tabou, Gaastra) secured third place, finally finding his hoped-for level of performance. Scotty Stallman secured another fifth place.Accordingly, by the end of the second day of competition, five complete slalom eliminations had already been completed at the European Championships on Borkum. This means that each driver can delete his two worst results. This provided reassurance especially for Michele Becker. Despite his injury and absence in the last race, the Kieler still leads the ranking in a superior way. He can even afford the luxury of striking out a first place. He enters the third day of competition with the ideal score of 0.0 and thus remains on course for the European Championship title. Nico Prien follows in second place with 4.0 points. Fabian Wolf can defend his third place on the podium with 9.0 points. Gunnar Asmussen is close behind him and has clearly set his focus on the podium. With his two second-place finishes, he has worked his way up to 10.0 points. Asmussen is currently in a promising 4th place, with Ennio Dal Pont (FRA-465, Fanatic, Duotone) completing the top 5 as the best foreign rider.For Saturday the forecast promises good conditions again. As the wind is expected to increase in the afternoon, the skippers meeting is scheduled for 1pm and the first start for 2pm. The priority for Saturday is the discipline Fin Slalom. After an official European Championship ranking is already given in Foil Slalom, it would crown the IFCA Slalom Championship if a ranking is also achieved in Fin Slalom. The European Championship will run until Sunday in the framework of the Multivan Windsurf Cup Borkum. At the award ceremony at 3:30 pm the new European Slalom Champions will be crowned.Besides the competitions of the surf elite at the European Championship, the Multivan Windsurf Cup offers a colorful program for the visitors at the Nordsee Aquarium Borkum.
