Today, as the Techno293 and Techno293 Plus Worlds take place in Quiberon with nearly 330 enthusiastic competitors from every corner of the globe, we can’t help but remember the one individual who played a pivotal role in shaping the windsurfing community: our legendary General Secretary, Ceri Williams.

It was with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Ceri in 2020, a true windsurfing pioneer who dedicated his life to advancing the sport he loved dearly. Throughout his tenure as General Secretary of the International Windsurfing Association, Ceri’s unwavering passion and boundless enthusiasm propelled windsurfing to new heights. He tirelessly championed inclusivity and accessibility, making it possible for windsurfing to touch the lives of people from all walks of life.

Ceri was not just a leader; he was a mentor, a friend, and a source of inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing him. His vision was to see windsurfing flourish as a sport that brings people together, transcending geographical and cultural boundaries.

As we gather in Quiberon for this momentous event, we know Ceri would have been thrilled to witness the Techno293 and Techno293 Plus Worlds coming to life, with participants from across the world showcasing their talents and embracing the camaraderie that defines windsurfing. The passion and determination displayed by these young athletes embody the essence of Ceri’s legacy, a legacy that continues to sail forward even in his absence.

Though Ceri is no longer with us in person, his spirit remains forever ingrained in the fabric of windsurfing.

Fair winds, dear Ceri, fair winds. Your legacy lives on in every sailor, in every wave, and in the heart of the windsurfing community.
