The International Windsurfing Association (IWA) welcomes Patrik Pollak (SVK), President of the Raceboard Class Association, as its new President for 2025. The role of IWA President rotates annually between class presidents, with Pollak taking over from Benoit Treguilly (FRA) of the Techno293 Class.

As he steps into the role, Pollak acknowledges the responsibility ahead but expresses confidence in the collective leadership of the IWA:

“I feel responsibility on my shoulders to lead the IWA this year, but I know that classes are led by passionate windsurfers, which guarantees that we are moving forward in the right direction. We (class presidents and members of the executive board) have respect for each other and cooperate to ‘serve and unite,’ honoring the motto and legacy set up by Ceri Williams.”

Reflecting on the challenges faced by windsurfing in recent years, Pollak highlights IWA’s resilience and commitment to the sport:

“Despite difficult times for non-professional sports in general, IWA reactivated all classes after the very difficult COVID period and is starting to function as before. IWA is working constantly to keep windsurfing as colorful as possible while keeping costs reasonable to accommodate all levels of windsurfing enthusiasts.”

Looking ahead, he emphasizes an exciting season of competition:

“We have a calendar filled with exciting events on the international level already, and I hope very soon national events will be added, so all of us have the necessary information to plan a year of sun, fun, and windsurfing adventure.”

With a strong foundation and a thriving windsurfing community, IWA is set for an exciting 2025 under Pollak’s leadership.

“Wish you all a successful 2025—air to breathe, wind to live.”
