THE FOIL WORLD CHAMPIONS AWARDED IN ALACATI TURKEY
The 2025 IFCA Grand Slam Slalom Worlds in Alaçatı came to a close after
a week filled with anticipation, excitement, and the unique charm that
this iconic surf city always delivers.
Despite the forecasted winds not always playing along, the fleets made
the most out of every window of opportunity. Foil racing dominated the
week, showcasing the progression of the sport with athletes pushing
limits and delivering spectacular high-speed battles.
Day 1 kicked off with solid foil conditions, giving us tight races and
setting the tone for the event.
Day 2 brought a pause as light winds kept sailors ashore, turning it
into a relaxed lay day.
On Day 3 the action returned with building winds, two more foil
eliminations, and the first discards coming into play — which shook up
the rankings across Youth, Women, and Open fleets.
Unfortunately, both Day 4 and the Final Day saw the fleets on standby as
the hoped-for thermal winds never fully arrived, leaving fin slalom
racing sadly out of the picture this year.
Still, the atmosphere remained electric throughout, with athletes
showing great patience, sportsmanship, and even joining in a fun SUP
race on the last day to celebrate community and fellowship.
And most importantly — today, we crowned the new Foil Slalom World
Champions!
