Fabienne Hoogendam from Holland and Italy’s Francesco Scagliola dominate Youth divisions after 2 racing days. The light to medium wind conditions spiced up the Masters and Juniors divisions, calling for close battles action and crowded first mark rounding on the second competition day.
Day 2 continued after a similar situation as the first day with the winds slowly building up towards mid day. The first heat of the day could start at 11:30 with the Masters B Final which was won by the Greek Philip Adamidis and completing the results of the first elimination of the championship. [more]
Local Bora Kozanoglu still dominates but we can see changes in the next few days as better winds are expected. The ones to watch are Erkan Morgan from Turkey, Italians Andrea Rosati including Mr. Cucchi.
One of today’s surprise performances goes to Cagla Kubat “the one and only female mixed between the Masters” with a 6th position in the A Final of the first elimination.
The French Tuesday-Lou found her pace and won Race 2 while Fabienne managed to sail away from some nasty clashes at mark 1 during Race 1 and is the current event leader after 3 races in the Youth Girl division.
Oda Sverre from Norway had a competitive day – among the strong Turkish Junior Squad – and shares equal points with Turkey’s Ipek Kacan in the Junior Girls division.
The Junior boys managed to complete their first elimination on the second competition day. Italy’s Nicolo Spanu claims the first victory in the first completed elimination.
All of the top 5 are all in top form and with the A and B Finals of elimination 2 scheduled for tomorrow, we can’t wait to see this exciting division racing in hopefully stronger winds.
Tomorrow the competition will continue with the same racing schedule. The forecast looks good for some high speed slalom action which could definetely shake things up a bit here on the flat waters of Alacati.
The skippers meeting is scheduled for 10:00
