The third day of the IFCA Slalom World Championships 2019 finally brought the long-awaited wind. With optimal side-shore conditions and wind speeds of up to 20 knots, two slalom eliminations were completed. At the end of the day, both Gunnar Asmussen (GER-2) from Flensburg and Vincent Langer (GER-1) from Kiel range on the first place in the preliminary overall standings. This leaves the outcome of the IFCA Slalom World Championships 2019 particularly exciting.[more]

For Gunnar Asmussen the day could not have started any better with a start-finish victory in the first elimination. He relegated Dutchman Ingmar Daldorf (NED-191) to second and Frenchman Basile Jacquin (FRA-498) to third place. The top 5 were completed by Damien Cervera (FRA-422) in fourth place and Vincent Langer in fifth place.
In the second slalom elimination Gunnar Asmussen could have maintained his leadership. But he had a difficult start and finished in fifth place. Vincent Langer, however, won the second race confidently. The second place went to Sebastian Koerdel (GER-220) from Aach, who had finished on the 10th place in the first race. Frenchman Damien Cervera showed a solid performance and completed the top three in the second race. He was followed by Norwegian Martin Moller Hovda (NOR-41) in fourth place and Gunnar Asmussen in fifth place.
With both a win and a fifth place respectively, Langer and Asmussen are tied at the top of the preliminary overall standings. Both earned the same score of 5.7 points with a first (0.7 points) and a fifth place (5.0 points). Close behind is Damien Cervera, who lies in third place (7.0 points). The fourth place goes to Ingmar Daldorf with 8.0 points ahead of Sebastian Koerdel in fifth place (12.0 points). The top 5 are thus extremely close, so that the fight for the IFCA Slalom World Champion title is far from over and can be continued tomorrow.
