Great news for the elite of slalom racing! From July 21st to 26th the IFCA Slalom Worlds will take place on Sylt in Germany. The IFCA Slalom World Championship is the sportive highlight of the Volvo Surf Cup which is one of the biggest funsport events in Germany. [more]120,000 spectators visit the event on Sylt every year. The IFCA Slalom World Championships offer not only the prestigious title but also a total of  15,000 eur prize money for the top ranked competitors.

Despite this promising outlook there was still a shadow over several top riders as the date of this event was overlapping with the traditional slot of the PWA competition on Fuerteventura which usually takes place at the end of July/beginning of August.

But now the PWA has announced the exact schedule for its Fuerte event. The PWA regatta will start with the discipline Freestyle from July 24th to 28th. From July 28th to August 2nd the event continues with PWA slalom.

This timing will allow all the slalom competitors to participate in both top events. First they can fight for the official IFCA Slalom World Championship title then they can head onwards to Fuerte to win ranking points for the PWA Worldtour.

“We are very happy about this decision of the PWA and the local organizer Rene Egli on Fuerte. We welcome this co-operative approach to avoid an overlap which will allow all top competitors to participate in the IFCA Slalom Worlds and the PWA Slalom Worldcup on Fuerte,” states Matthias Regber as organizer of the IFCA Slalom Worlds and the Windsurfing Euro-Cup.

There are good flight connections from Germany to Fuerte. But as it is holiday season we strongly advise to register for the IFCA Slalom Worlds and to make the travelling plans as soon as possible.
