The Formula Windsurfing Class has selected a new Formula Windsurfing Grand Prix regatta. From May 13th to 17th the Summer Opening will invite the top racers to the Summer Opening in Westerland on the island Sylt in Germany.[more]
Every year at the Ascension Day weekend the Summer Opening is the traditional kick-off for the summer season on the island of Sylt in Germany. The event is a major attraction for competitors from all over Europe. The Summer Opening offers a total prize money budget of 10,000 euro and is a tour stop of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup, the official series leading to the IFCA Slalom European title.
Now the event has also been selected as a Formula Windsurfing Grand Prix. This step will generate further interest in this regatta among the Formula racers. The competitors are welcomed by a giant event and over 80,000 spectators. Besides the windsurfing there is a big program to entertain the public even if the wind is not sufficient for official races.
