In December, the World Championship was officially confirmed by our governments National Sport Council and the main event sponsor secured funds for the event.
We have already started to prepare for the event, which should be the climax of the windsurfing season in 2012. The event will bring over 100 Formula sailors from all over the world to Liepaja. Soon, we will inform you regarding technical details, such as; special deals for air travel, accommodation etc. However, already the good news is that club Coyote Fly agreed to be the official club for the event!
In 2011 we have organized the European Formula Championship, which turned out a grest success, with 98 participants from 20 countries. Ten men’s races were completed in various wind and wave conditions, with the final race deciding the champion, Przemek Miarczynski from Poland. Our target is to see even more competitors from more countries in 2012. More international Olympic sailors should join the event, because London 2012 Olympics will be just finished as well as PWA sailors. Just before, there will be Neil Pryde Baltic Cup 2012 Final event organized in the same location, giving good opportunity for many sailors come earlier and test Baltic sea conditions in real racing.
We are looking forward to see you in our event. We promise you tough, challenging, but fair racing. New 2012 boards and sails should make it even more interesting!
In the meantime, we wish you all Happy and Successful Year 2012! See you in Liepaja!
