Paolo dos Reis is the new US National Champion and Formula North American Champion. The 2010 Starboard Severne US Windsurfing National Championships was held at San Francisco’s Crissy Field July 20th through the 24th hosted by the prestigious St. Francis Yacht Club . Course racing featured in the heart of San Francisco Bay and even with 10 races in the bag the race committee called for yet 2 more races on the final day. High speed and explosive crashes that make up Slalom racing was run just off San Francisco Crissy Field’s East Beach. The event also featured a long distance race that sent the sailors on a 20 mile tour across San Francisco Bay.
New to this year’s event was the awarding of an overall title. Based on the cumulative performance in Slalom, Long Distance, and Course racing Phil McGain came out on top. Even more impressive considering a considerable amount of time having not sailed formula gear. Truly an impressive performance.
