Day two of racing was quite similar to the day before but in reverse order with the weather and the groups on the water. The day started sunny with light breezes and the competition started for the girls in nice 12 knot planing conditions. [more]Three more races were completed for each of the fleets today, with Techno Plus managing to fit in an extra one, in a mix of sunshine and rain. Heavy rain and strong gusts eventually stopped play in the afternoon with the last races of the day for the U17 boys.
Placed 27th at the Medemblik Worlds 2012, Oel Pouliquen (FRA-662) now sits at the top of the U17 boys leaderboard, 5 points ahead of Ofek Elmeleh (ISR-602) who has equal points with Hugo Mollard-Tanguy (FRA-999), winner of the recent RS:One Men’s Europeans at Brest.
In the girls U17 competition is tight. Elfutina Stefania (RUS-271) leads by just one point over Ma Kwan Ching (HKG-3) and Emma Wilson (GBR-961) is in third, just one ahead of Luci Pianazza (FRA-20).
Some very strong competition also in the u15 boys. Yoav Cohen (ISR-253) and Tom Monnet (FRA-320), 2012 u15 boys champion, are both on 8 points, just one ahead of Tom Arnaux (FRA-152). Oleksandr Goncharenko (UKR-46) and Amit Goetha (ISR-616) are showing consistent performances to complete the current top five.
Giorgia Speciale (ITA-1) has just one bullet under her belt but again consistently good performance puts her at the top of the U15 girls, 4 points ahead of Katy Spychakov (ISR-617), who is 4 ahead of Oceane Montaut (FRA-66).
In the Techno 293 Plus group, Japanese sailors occupy four of the top five slots, Uchizono Takuya comfortably 9 points ahead of his nearest rival with five out of seven race wins. First female is New Zealander Xanthe Bowater, 6th overall.
