The biggest event on the local windsurfing calendar and one of the key windsurfing events in Asia, the SIM 35th Singapore Open South East Asian Windsurfing Championship was organised by the Windsurfing Association of Singapore supported by Singapore Sailing Federation.

The multi-class championship event, held during the northeast monsoon season and with the high energy from the SIM students, delivered as expected an exciting event. [more]

The event took place from 21 to 24 January 2016 at the National Sailing Centre.  This edition of the SIM Singapore Open hosted the South East Asian championship level events for the RS:One and Techno 293 classes. An RS:X (Olympic Class),  Formula Windsurfing and Raceboard competition was held alongside, complete with a local tertiary competition, the SIM Windsurfing Championships.
The SIM event engaged 34 students, some very new to the sport (the novice category), with those Intermediate level sailors in 3 categories based upon sail size (4.7, 5.5, and 6,2) ; and the experienced group racing on the RS:One.
