Double Olympic champion, van Rijsselberghe, had already won first place before the medal race. The 29-year-old windsurfer controlled his opponents during the 12 races and secured a fantastic result.  “I’m super proud for my nation and myself, and also Kiran who secured silver. We train everywhere and anywhere. I spend more time with Kiran than my wife,” joked Dorian.
The RS:X Men divisions featured 85 competitors from 33 countries with the top ten nations securing a berth at Tokyo 2020. They are:
China
France
Great Britain
Greece
Israel
Italy
Netherlands
Norway
Poland
Spain
On the women’s side, De Geus had also been crowned World Champion before the medal race. Now, she has her eyes on a good result in Tokyo 2020. “I was so disappointed after Rio 2016, so it’s an amazing feeling to be World Champion. We train a lot in these conditions, and you could see the results on Friday with two bullets. I could see every shift and every gust,” concluded De Geus.
The RS:X Women division had 62 competitors from 28 countries with the top eleven nations securing a berth at Tokyo 2020:
China
Denmark

The next event in the RS:X calendar is the 2018 European Championships in Sopot, Poland.
